28th IAVSD Symposium on the Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and on Tracks – IAVSD 2023
IAVSD 2023 was held at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on August 21-25, 2023.
The Symposium was organized by the National Research Council Canada, Virginia Tech, and Carleton University.
A total of 361 abstracts were submitted of which 137 were road related and 224 were rail related.
The total of 249 oral and poster papers were accepted. 178 papers were accepted for oral presentation – including 85 road papers and 93 rail papers – and a further 71 papers were accepted for poster presentation.
Additionally, five invited state-of-the-art presentations/papers were presented:
- Vehicle System Dynamics in Digital Twin Studies in Rail and Road Domains
- Dynamics Performance of Long Combination Vehicles with Active Control Systems
- Force Sensors for Active Safety and Durability of Road Vehicles
- Improved Curving Performance Using Unconventional Wheelset Guidance Design and Wheel-Rail Interface – Present and Future Solutions
- Out-of-Round Railway Wheels and the Mechanisms of Wheel Polygonisation
All papers were published in Vehicle System Dynamics (VSD) and have been made free access (for free download) at least until February 2023.
The Proceedings of this IAVSD Symposium will be published by Springer in Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering: Advances in Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks; Proceedings of the 28th Symposium of the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics, IAVSD 2023 with editors Wei Hunag and Mehdi Ahmadian. The Proceedings will be indexed in Scopus and fully peer-reviewed.
323 delegates from 26 countries registered for the symposium.
In addition to the regular symposium sessions, there were two workshops: the CAV workshop and the ICRI/IAVSD rail workshop. There were 29 presentations in the two workshops.
Technical tours were provided by the National Research Council Canada, Area X.O, OC Transpo, and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
